Situated in the southeast of the Chengdu Plain, Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province – home town of Giant Panda, got many pleasant titles in history such as the “City of Hibiscus” and the “City of Brocade” for the famous local brocade weaving.
Chengdu is the cradle of the glorious Shuhan culture. The Jinsha Relic demonstrates that there was the capital of Ancient Shu Kingdom existed 4,000 years ago. The over 2000-year-old Dujiangyan Irrigation Project was novel in design and advanced in technology to control water without a dam. The city also boasted of many famous historic sites such as The Temple of Marquis Wu, The Thatched Cottage of Du Fu, the Yongling Mausoleum, the Qingyang Temple, the Wangjiang Tower, the Baoguang Temple and the Wenshu Temple etc. The Sichuan cuisine restaurants, the delicious snacks and tea houses can be found everywhere in the city. The Sichuan Opera, the dulcimer and Qingyin (a local ballad-singing) with local feature are heard in the city.
